The biggest database is not always the most useful one.
LWSS includes nearly 52,000 facility records across all 50 states and DC. The goal is not to inflate that number. The goal is to give placement agents a practical outreach pool made up of providers that may actually fit the search.

Why curation matters
Every irrelevant facility creates real work.
A record can be technically valid and still be useless for a senior placement search. When nonresidential programs, closed providers, duplicates, clinical-only services, or other poor-fit records are mixed into the search pool, they do more than make the database look larger.
They generate unnecessary texts and calls, consume your prepaid outreach balance, create responses that must be reviewed, and make it harder to see the facilities that deserve attention. A bloated result set does not expand your options—it hides the useful ones inside noise.
Built to include
Records that support placement work
State-licensed residential care settings
Assisted living, board-and-care, adult foster care, and state-equivalent residential categories
Providers with a usable location for radius searching
Active or current records when the state makes that status available
Facility types reasonably applicable to independent senior placement
Built to remove
Records that inflate results without adding options
Duplicate, closed, inactive, or clearly outdated records
Adult day programs and other nonresidential services
Home-care, equipment, and clinical-only provider categories
Licenses unrelated to the placement search being performed
Provider groups that add outreach volume but rarely produce an actionable placement option
Fifty different systems
Facility licensing changes from state to state.
There is no single national definition of assisted living inventory. Each state publishes different license types, fields, status information, and formats. LWSS evaluates those sources state by state instead of dumping every available record into one oversized national list.
Current reach
Coverage across all 50 states and DC
Facility categories and record depth vary because each state licenses and publishes its providers differently. Coverage continues to be reviewed as state information changes and agents tell us what works in their markets.
